PURPOSE:To easily culture Japanese horseradish with minimum amount of water by supplying water necessary for culture from a buffer tank to the surface of a culture bed and controlling the surface water and percolating water, thereby using the water in a completely closed state. CONSTITUTION:Water for the culture of Japanese horseradish is supplied from a buffer tank 16 to the surface of a culture bed 3 and a part of the water is allowed to flow horizontally on the surface of the culture bed and returned through an overflow port 10 to the buffer tank. The remaining part of water is percolated into the culture bed, passed downward through the soil and returned through a closed conduit 13 to the buffer tank. The ratio of the overflowing surface water running on the surface of the culture bed to the percolated water entering into the closed conduit is controlled by controlling the opening of the flow-control valve 17 of a pipe connecting the closed conduit and the buffer tank and restricting the flow of the percolated water. |
