NEW MATERIAL:An amylase having following properties. Optimum pH: pH10 in a case of using soluble starch as a substrate; optimum temperature: 70 deg.C; stable pH: stable to pH6-11 in a case of treating at 50 deg.C for 30min; effect of surfactant: has >=95% residual activity even after treating at 30 deg.C for 2hr in the presence of 3000ppm linear sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate (pH9.0); molecular weight: molecular weight measured by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis method is 45000; isoelectric point: 4.3. USE:Useful for decomposition of starch in a high temperature alkaline region and used as a desizing agent in a scouring and bleaching process in fiber industry and enzyme for detergent, etc. PREPARATION:A microorganism belonging to genus Bacillus such as Bacillus sp.SD772 (FERM P-11456) is cultured under an aerobic condition at 55 deg.C for 3 day.
