PURPOSE:To attain excellent optical communication by providing a transmitter modulating light in response to information and outputting a modulated signal to a free space and a receiver using a solar battery as a power supply and converting an optical signal from the said transmitter and made incident in the said solar battery into an electric signal. CONSTITUTION:A light is outputted to a free space by an illuminant circuit 3 based on a signal modulated by a modulation circuit 2 based on a data stored in a memory 1. Then the light made incident in a solar battery 5 is converted into a data by a data conversion circuit 9, converted into a parallel data by a serial/parallel converter 10 and stored in a memory 12. When an output voltage of the solar battery 5 is fluctuated, a CPU 11 switches on/off data communication or uses a switch to apply ON/OFF control to prevent the supply of a signal from the solar battery 5 to the data conversion circuit 9. Then, the data error due to variation in the output voltage of the solar battery 5 can be prevented, and in the case of the latter, an advantage of reducing the power consumption of the data conversion circuit 9 is attained. |
