<p>Using a converter, its central axis forms an acute angle, e.g. 10-25 deg. with the horizontal plane. It is rotatable around its central axis and is pivotable around a horizontal axis at right-angles to and passing through the central axis. The converter upwardly directed end narrows to an opening, in front of which a protective hood is arranged which evolves into the shape of a bent pipe. - The hood first end is arranged as closed as possible to the converter opening without actually coming into contact with the converter. The pipe is bent and its other end is directed upwards. It can easily be removed from the converter opening for filling and emptying of the converter. Through an opening in the pipe bent part or elbow is a so-called oxy-fuel burner. The burner mouth extends into the converter when the pipe first end is located directly in front of the converter opening. Through another opening in the pipe elbow is placed a lance.</p> |
