Self-fused insulating wire is produced by spraying directly a varnish on the conductor, followed by stoving. The varnish used is prepared by blending 100 parts polyehter hydroxy resin, 10-30 parts polyamide copolymer resin, 15-25 parts stabilized block isocyanate compound as hardening agent, and 1-5 parts p- nitrobenzoyl chloride. Preferably polyether hydroxy resin is phenolic resin, and polyamide copolymer resin is alcohol-solube resin copolymerized with nylon oligomers such as nylon-6, nylon-66 or nylon-612.
