PURPOSE:To make it possible to inspect the internal defect in a wire rod without the effect of the vibration of the wire rod and without changing the property of the surface of the wire rod by suppressing the vibration of the wire rod with a probe holder which is operated with the vibration of the wire rod and wire rod guides in the probe holder. CONSTITUTION:A wire rod 1 has excellent abrasion resistance. The wire rod 1 is held with an input guide 2A and an output guide 2B such as ceramics which do not give scratches to the wire rod 1. The guides 2A and 2B are fixed to a probe holder 3. The condition fluctuations such as the fluctuation in interval between a probe 5 and the wire rod 1 due to the vibration of the wire rod 1 and the decentering of the wire rod 1 and the probe 5 do not occur. The vibration in the holder 3 of the wire rod 1 is suppressed by the input an output guides 2A and 2B. A feeding port 8 for feeding water, oil and the like for propagating ultrasonic waves from the probe 5 to the wire rod 1 is provided in the holder 3. A medium well 9 is provided in the holder 3. Thus, the stable medium feeding without the effect of bubbles and the like is performed. In this way, the flaw detecting sensitivity is not changed, and the quantitative evaluation of the defect can be performed. |
