The yarn roll (8) is provided with a stripe-code which gives the price and data specific to the item.So that the stripe code does not impinge upon the matching of the thread's colour with that of a sample, and also does not obscure the yarn roll's field of colour vision in a sales display, the yarn roll (8) is furnished with an, at the very least, almost u shaped stirrup (1) arranged within the roll's direction of axis and engaging the yarn roll in a clamping action. This stirrup's two U curves (2, 3), which display an inward pointing dome shaped raised section at their free ends (4 and 5 respectively), engage with the relevant end of the longitudinal bore hole (6) in the yarn roll's centre.
