PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound in high yield without causing reverse equilibrium reaction by reacting a cyclic carbonate with an alcohol in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst, then carrying out catalyst separating operation and subsequently distilling the resultant product while introducing gaseous carbon dioxide into the reaction solution and removing a trace amount of the catalyst component. CONSTITUTION:A cyclic carbonate is reacted with an alcohol in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst and separating operation of the heterogeneous catalyst is then carried out. The obtained reaction solution containing a trace amount of the catalyst component is subsequently distilled while introducing gaseous carbon dioxide into the reaction solution even after the catalyst separating operation. The distilling temperature is ordinary temperature to 250 deg.C, preferably 50-180 deg.C and the pressure may be under any conditions. Thereby, the objective compound is obtained. For example, methods for introducing the gaseous carbon dioxide from the bottom of a distillation column during the distillation are used as a means for introducing the gaseous carbon dioxide into the distillation system. The gaseous carbon dioxide is introduced in a volume of 0.001-400Nl, preferably 0.01-40Nl based on 1l volume of the distillation solution to be treated. |
