The air purifier comprises: a support (20) including a first side wall which has an entry adapted to receive waste and a second side wall opposite the first and which has an exit for discharging the purified waste; at least one filter member (30) inserted between the first and second side walls, which carries perforations; means (40) for supplying a cleaning liquid which can flow between the filter member (30) and can be spread over the perforations; and means for recovering the cleaning liquid. When a flow of the cleaning liquid is spread over the filter member (30), a liquid film is formed over the perforations, efficiently removing any contaminating substance existing in the waste so as to prevent an atmospheric contamination as a result of this substance. <IMAGE>
