PURPOSE:To improve resistance to acid, water. and weathering by copolymerizing chlorotrifluoroehtane, a vinyl or isopropenyl ester of a fatty acid, and a hydroxylated allyl ether. CONSTITUTION:25-75mol% chlorotrifluoroethane, 10-70mol% vinyl or isopropenyl ester of a fatty acid of formula I (wherein R1 is H or CH3; R2 is CnH2n+1; and n is 1-12), 3-75mol% hydroxylated allyl ether of formula II (wherein m is 3-8), and 0-40mol% other copolymerizable monomer (e.g. ethyl acrylate) are copolymerized at-30 to 100 deg.C in the presence of a free-radical initiator (e.g. isopropyl peroxydicarbonate) to give a fluorocopolymer having an intrinsic viscosity (in tetrahydrofuran at 30 deg.C) of 0.05-2.0dl/g. |
