PURPOSE:To prevent generation of shock or delay in response of a sensor by detecting completion of speed change from a rotational ratio of the input power shaft to that of the output power shaft of an automatic transmission. CONSTITUTION:An overrun clutch F is placed in its engagement by selection from normal travelling range (D range) to an engine brake range (2 range). There are provided an input shaft rotational speed detecting means A, an output shaft rotational speed detecting means B and a rotational relationship calculating means C for calculating the rotational relationship between the input shaft and the output shaft based on the signals from both rotational speed detecting means. A judging means D is provided for making judgement whether the rotational relationship calculated by means of the rotational relationship calculating means C reaches the preset value or not when selection is made from the normal travelling range to the engine brake range. An engagement instruction means E is provided to output the signal to instruct the engagement of the overrun clutch F when the judgement is made by the judging means D that the rotational relationship reaches the preset value. |
