A profiled component is produced, with a substrate and a number of gps. of profiled sections on one side with various spectral properties, each gp. having a particular size which repeats in both directions to form a pattern. In the process the elements of each gp. are formed directly on one side of the substrate using a plastic material contg. colouring; the elements are next allowed to change into a semi-hardened state in which at least a surface part of the elements become hard; the elements of each group are then checked each time they are formed in case any part should be faulty and, if so, they are corrected accordingly; the elements in each group are finally allowed to harden completely. ADVANTAGE - The procedure eliminates any problems in correcting. In particular it enables profiled components such as colour fibres to be produced at low cost.
