A cooking vessel consists essentially of a pot-shaped container (1) and a lid (3) for closing the container (1). The container has a peripheral rim (2) which is turned outward. When an actuating knob (14) movably mounted on the lid (3) is moved in the direction of closing, said rim is gripped by peripheral lips (6) which are turned down and in and which have closure segments (5) mounted on the lid (3) so that they slide essentially parallel to the plane of the rim (2). When the actuating knob (14) moves in the direction of opening, said rim is released by the peripheral collars (6). To facilitate closing and opening of this cooking vessel, the invention proposes that the actuating knob be mounted axially mobile on the lid, that when the actuating knob (14) moves axially in the direction of closing the closure segments (5) with the peripheral lips (6) be pulled radially inward into the locked position and that when the actuating knob (14) moves axially in the direction of opening, the closure segments (5) with the peripheral lips (6) be pushed radially outward into the unlocked position.
