There is described a yarn, in particular a sewing yarn, comprising at least two multifilament yarn components. The first yarn component forms predominantly the core of the yarn and the second yarn component forms predominantly the sheath of the yarn, the two yarn components having been intermingled with one another. The individual filaments of the second yarn component have a tenacity that amounts to between 5% and 70%, in particular between 10% and 50%, of the tenacity of the individual filaments of the first yarn component.
