<p>A data processing and memory system comprises a first memory (700), such as a VRAM, and at least one second memory (304, 506, 510), such as a disk drive, each for storing arrays of pixel data elements, and a processing means (10, 314, 508). The processing means is operable to transfer data-elements page-by-page between the memories and to modify the data-elements in the first memory (700). In order to reduce the set-up time when generating a new image comprising one or more new pages, the processing means is operable to store for each new page the background colour of the image. Then, when each new page is transferred to one of the memories, the background colour is repeated for each data-element in the page.</p> |
