METHOD AND MACHINE FOR ROLLER FINISHING OF MULTICYLINDER CRANK SHAFT FOR SMOOTHENING OR HARDENING

PURPOSE: To provide a machine for cost effective rolling of a crank shaft having crank pins arranged in juxtaposition in tight contact with each other by dividing all the crank pins to two groups and machining of the respective groups with a rolling stage. CONSTITUTION: This machine has a means for rotationally driving and receiving the multi-cylinder crank shaft, a main journal rolling apparatus having rolling tools and a crank pin rolling apparatus having at least two rolling tools. The crank pin rolling apparatus which are suspended at carriages for radial sliding and radial positioning within the plane perpendicular to the respective rotation axes in such a manner that the apparatus are capable of pendulum motion are disposed slidably together in an axial direction between at least two positions which may be predetermined. In addition, the apparatus are fixable in these positions. The crank pin rolling apparatus are disposed apart from each other in such a manner that at least one crank pins may be disposed between the crank pin rolling apparatuses in the machining position.
