The mechanism to set the cover (1) for the delivery opening of a stock inlet for a papermaking machine, at its leading wall (2), has a monitor to register directly the setting function of each adjustment unit (4). After each ordered time setting interval, the effect of the adjustment command at a setting unit (4) is reported back as a signal to the control. Each setting unit (4) has a rotating motor (5) with a rotation monitor which, after a given number of rotations, confirms the successful operation to the control. All the setting units (4) are operated and monitored by a control unit (9,10) with modules (9) each for a given number of setting units (4), interconnected to each other. If a monitor fails to report a given number of setting motor rotations, it is interpreted that the setting unit in question has failed or is blocked. ADVANTAGE - The system gives an automatic adjustment to the delivery point of the stock inlet.
