<p>A method for manufacturing a rigid refractory insulating material for contact with a molten ferrous metal. A refractory ceramic base material is impregnated with a solution of a zirconium salt, and the impregnated ceramic material is dried and subjected to pyrolysis. The refractory ceramic base material is a highly porous material with a porosity of 85-95 %, and said pyrolysis is carried out at a temperature of 800-900 °C for two to six hours so that the walls of the pores in the ceramic base material are coated with a fine protective layer of zirconia.</p> |
