Plant for decomposing materials comprises equipment to deposit material into a first pile, mobile equipment mounted on a rotating gantry for turning the loose material over into successive piles and equipment for extracting decomposed material for the final pile and conveying it away. The decompsn. bed is circular and located around a pillar on which the gantry rotates. A circumferential rail supports the remote gantry end. Equipment for turning material over into the next pile moves towards the pillar as the bridge rotates thus following a spiral path. Material is initially supplied by a conveyor which feeds it through the pillar to a conveyor on the gantry. The conveyor takes the materail to the outer end of the gantry and produces an outer ring-shaped pile. Material from the inner ring pile is delivered to a circular hopper at the pillar base by a scraper conveyor. USE/ADVANTAGE - The plant deposits and removes decomposable material from a bed, reduces process and plant costs and occupies less area.
