Hydrocephalus relief valve - has excessive cerebrospinal fluid passed via valve into pressure cylinder containing spring-loaded piston
摘要
The cerebrospinal fluid is passed under cerebral pressure by a 2/2 way valve (5) into a pressure cylinder (4) when this pressure is greater than that formed by the cylinder piston (2) under spring-loading. This occurs in a first position of the valve, and in a second valve position the fluid flows out of the cylinder under the pressure of the spring. A time generator (7) switches the valve (5) into action on a cyclic basis, and an excess pressure valve (6) is connected in parallel to the 2/2 way valve, permitting fluid above its operating pressure to flow away. A check valve (8) prevents back flow. In an alternative version, the spring-loaded piston can be replaced by a bellows which is also spring (1)-loaded. USE - To conduct away excessive cerebrospinal fluid.
