PURPOSE:To obtain the subject sizing agent capable of reducing the frequency of end breakage and fluffing compared with conventional sizing agent and exhibiting excellent weaving performance by compounding a PVA having an average polymerization degree higher than a specific level and a PVA having low polymerization degree. CONSTITUTION:The objective sizing agent composition for fiber can be produced by compounding (A) a PVA having an average polymerization degree of >=4,000 (especially 8,000-20,000) and a saponification degree of 60-100mol% and (B) a PVA having an average polymerization degree of 100-2,000 (especially 300-1,400) and a saponification degree of 60-100mol% at a ratio to obtain a mixture having an average polymerization degree of 300-3,500 (especially 700-2,500). Troubles such as end-breakage and fluffing inevitable by the use of conventional sizing agent can be reduced by sizing a fiber with the present sizing agent and the weaving performance of fiber can be remarkably improved. |
