PURPOSE:To enlarge the body interior dimensions of a vehicle by extending an output shaft of a transmission up to the rear of a differential unit, and making the rear end of the shaft free of detachment from a case, while supporting it by such a bearing as being free of mounting position adjustment. CONSTITUTION:An output shaft 4 of a transmission is extended up to the rear of a differential unit 3, while a hypoid pinion gear 5 in mesh with a ring gear 6 is fitted in a rear end of this output shaft 4 via a spline 8, and a shaft cylinder 5a of this pinion gear 5 is rotatably supported by a case 3a of the differential unit 3 via a bearing 9. Accordingly, with a bolt 13 removed, the pinion gear 5 is easily extractable from the case 3a to the outside. Thus, thickness of a tooth contacting shim 11 is adjusted, whereby the rooth contacting adjustment between the pinion gear 5 and the ring gear 6 can be done easily. In addition, since the extent of length from a transmission front end to a ring gear center becomes shortened, the body interior dimensions of a vehicle grow larger as much as a portion for that reduction.
