A first fraction of carbon-rich, rather unreactive products with a low content of volatile constituents, a second fraction of highly reactive products which have been obtained by carbonisation of fossil raw materials of a low degree of coalification or organic masses, and, if appropriate, a third fraction of other constituents which are desired and required in the future field of use of the briquettes, such as quartz sand, are ground and, subsequently, two binders are added. The binders have the property of volatilising when heated except for a carbonisation residue which binds the feed products. The first binder is admixed dry at room temperatures (18-25 DEG C) to the fractions and then caused to conglutinate at room temperature by means of a suitable liquid which is added to the mixture. The second binder is also admixed dry at room temperature. Its volatile constituents are expelled only at substantially higher temperatures than those for the first binder. After homogenisation and/or a reaction time and resting time (conditioning time), the above fractions are shaped with the binders to give briquettes and, if appropriate, subsequently heat-treated.

|
