Fuel injection system for IC engine

The fuel injection system has a fuel tubing arrangement, in which no fuel redirection path is provided, which redirects an excessive fuel quantity, provided under pressure by a fuel pump (22) for fuel injection arrangement (20), to a fuel tank (21). The fuel injection system comprises a fuel pressure control arrangement (34), which controls the fuel delivery by the fuel pump (22) into the fuel tubing arrangement, keeping the fuel pressure in the fuel tubing at a nominal value. A relief valve (50) is provided at the supply side of the fuel pump, to selectively allow the connection between the fuel tubing and the fuel tank. A drive arrangement (55,56) controls the relief valve, if the fuel pressure in the fuel tubing is a predetermined amount larger than the nominal pressure.
