PURPOSE:To correct deviation in color balance by separating a counter electrode for red display and a counter electrode for green or blue electrode electrically and applying the counter electrode for the red display with a voltage which is lower than a voltage applied to the counter electrode for green or blue display. CONSTITUTION:The counter electrode 11 for red display in an area which overlaps with an R filter and the counter electrode 12 for green or blue display in an area which overlaps with a G or B filter are formed in comb shapes and the R counter electrode 11 and GB counter electrode 12 are arranged at a specific interval without being in contact with each other so that the tooth parts of the comb shapes engage each other. Picture element electrodes are applied with a source voltage (driving voltage) S which is inverted, frame by frame, about a reference voltage P. The GB counter electrode 12, on the other hand, is applied with a voltage VGB which is inverted, frame by frame, to the opposite polarities from the source voltage S and the R counter electrode 11 is applied with a voltage VR which is inverted, frame by frame, to the opposite polarities from the source voltage S and lower than the voltage VRG. Then those voltages VGB and VR do not exceed a threshold voltage for liquid crystal display. |
