PURPOSE:To obtain the title collagen without discoloration, having high hot water shrinkage-initiating temperature, thus suitable for the hair, fur-alternative fiber, surgical threads, etc., by treating collagen with an aqueous formaldehyde solution followed by immersion in an aqueous aluminate solution of specified pH value. CONSTITUTION:Collagen is treated with an aqueous formaldehyde solution pref. under rising temperature, and then immersed in an aqueous aluminate (e.g. aluminum, sulfate) solution of a pH of 2.5-5 for 0.5-3hr, thus giving the objective regenerated collagen. The temperature of said aluminate solution is pref. <=40 deg.C. |
