PURPOSE:To obtain the title hollow yarn useful in a medical field, a separation field, etc., in a wide range, having a specific void content, standing sterilization treatment at a high temperature or with a chemical, having excellent heat, solvent and radiation resistances, comprising a specific polyether-based copolymer. CONSTITUTION:For example, (A) a dihalogenobenzonitrile (e.g. 2,6- dichlorobenzonitrile) is reacted with (B) 4,4'-biphenol in a molar ratio of 1.00-1.01 and an alkali metal compound in the presence of (C) a neutral polar solvent to give a reaction product, which is copolymerized with (D) a 4,4-- dihalogenobenzophenone (e.g. 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone) to give the objective hollow yarn comprising a polyether-based copolymer having a repeating unit shown by formula I and a repeating unit shown by formula II in a molar ratio of the formula I/(I+II) of 0.15-0.40 and 3,000-10,000 poise at 400 deg.C and having 20-70% void content. |
