19 In a hydrostatic thrust bearing system intended for an axle or shaft provided with a pressure plate and also incorporating separate radial journals there is used a ring chamber bearing on each side of the pressure plate. Each of the thrust bearings is arranged for axial movement in a hydraulic cylinder to which oil under constant pressure is supplied via a servo valve. When the axial load on the axle varies or changes the hydraulic pressure acting on the axially movable bearings automatically changes the width of leakage or sealing gaps extending radially inwards and outwards from the oil pockets. |
