A method for filing computer diskettes and means therefor comprising an identification label which can be placed on the diskette and a filing enclosure, both of which are to be marked with the same identification code to associate the diskette with this particular filing enclosure so that the one or both faces of the enclosure can be used to write various notes, records and filing codes regarding the data on the diskette and/or instructions of use for the same. Both the identification label and the filing enclosure can further be equipped with a special, visually similar (framed) areas for the identification codes. The filing enclosure may also have special areas dedicated for different types of data, such as titles, filing codes, etc. The enclosure may also be constructed so that the top of it can serve as an index tab, especially when the enclosures/ diskettes are stored vertically in the normal presently known filing boxes/ trays. me identification label and the filing enclosure can also be colour coded to further emphasize their association and to help differentiate diskettes from each other.
