PURPOSE:To keep a deceleration degree within a tolerance without any increase in lid thickness by positioning an air bag body supported with a strength member, inside the lid fitted to an instrument panel, and keeping the air bag body in contact with a shock absorbing member inside the lid. CONSTITUTION:The base plate 9 of an air bag body 7 is secured with a screw to the bracket 21 of a strength member 19 extended in an instrument panel 1. Also, the opening 1a of the instrument panel 1 at a position faced to the air bag body 7 is closed with a lid 25 having a sheet-like core material 27 such as an aluminum sheet, and an elastic layer 29 of foamed material. Furthermore, a shock absorbing member 41 is fitted to the inner side of the lid 25, and kept in contact with the module cover 11 of the air bag body 7. According to the aforesaid construction, kinetic energy inputted to the lid 25 can be absorbed. |
