PURPOSE:To have a neat generating body or high far-infrared ray radiation efficiency so as to remove an odor and a harmful gas by composing a heat generating body of quartz or a vitreous body each having an electric resistor built-in, and a catalytic coating layer comprising at least perovskite type compound oxide and silica formed on the surface of the quartz or the vitreous body. CONSTITUTION:Because of being formed with a catalytic coating layer made of ceramic, a heat generating body has a high far-infrared ray ratio in radiated infrared rays as compared with that of quartz or a vitreous body without the catalytic coating layer. Also because the heat generating body has the catalytic coating layer formed on the surface of the quartz or the vitreous body, an object of heating is heated and also air surrounding the object is heated while the catalytic coating layer may be heated. And when the resultant air current contacts a catalyst having been heated more than an activating temperature by self-heating of the heat generating body, an odrous component and a harmful component both present in the air is oxidized and purified by catalytic action of the catalyst. Also as for the oxidizing catalyst, perovskite is more inexpensive because of being a base-metal oxide although it is equal in activity to a noble metal. |
