PURPOSE:To provide a safe battery with organic electrolyte even in the event of overdischarge by preparing the electrolytic solution from a substance having a specific composition as electrolyte, and thereby preventing generation of abnormal heat at the time of overdischarge. CONSTITUTION:As electrolyte M(CnF2n+1 SO3)x is used, where M is alkali metal or alkali earth metal, n is integer no less than 2, and x takes one in the case of alkali metal and 2 in the case of alkali earth metal. When a large current flows through a battery, temp. rise in the battery becomes steep, and when the temp. rise attains near the melting point of separator, clog is generated therein, and no current will flow any more according to the conventional arrangement. If the M(CnF2n+1SO3)x is used as electrolyte, however, large current flow in the battery is suppressed to a certain degree owing to adsorption of the CnF2n+1<-> part to the neg. electrode and/or interactions of Li<+> ions in the electrolyte with alkali metal ions, and consequently abnormal heat generation from the battery is prevented. |
