PURPOSE:To realize high-density clear recording on plain paper without blotting, to make it possible to impart fast drying properties and fixability to an ink, and to obtain a recording ink free from clogging and also excellent in shelf stability by dispersing a pigment in water and adding additives to the obtained dispersion for adjustment. CONSTITUTION:In the manufacture of a recording ink used in a printer for recording characters and images with a liquid ink, a pigment is dispersed in water in the first step by using a pigment dispersant and a water-soluble polymeric resin (e.g. glue or PVA) in order to obtain a fine, stable, redispersible dispersion. In the second step, additives [e.g. an emulsion of a (co)polymer resin of, e.g. a monomer having a hydrophilic functional group, and a wax emulsion] are added to the dispersion obtained in the first step for adjustment. This technique can realize high-density clear recording on plain paper without blotting, makes it possible to impart fast drying properties and fixability inaccessible so far to an ink, and can give a highly reliable recording ink free from clogging and also excellent in shelf stability. |
