PURPOSE:To provide the photoelectric converter having excellent versatility relating to building of an optical network by providing an optical semiconductor element embedded in a part of the inside of an optical waveguide and electrode terminals formed to expose the other ends in the outside part of the optical waveguide. CONSTITUTION:The optical semiconductor element 16 is embedded into a part of the core part 10 in particular of the optical waveguide 14 constituted of a core part 10 and a clad part 12 formed around this part. The optical waveguide 14 is constituted of a transfer mold, etc., used for, for example, an LED, etc., and the photoelectric converter is built in the optical communication network by connecting optical fibers, etc., respectively not shown in Fig., to both ends 14A and 14B of the optical waveguide 14. The pad electrode, not shown in Fig., of the optical semiconductor element 16 is connected to one end of the 1st external electrode 18 and the other pad electrode is connected to one end of the 2nd external electrode 20 via a bonding wire 22. The other ends of the 1st, 2nd external electrodes 18 are both exposed to the outside of the optical waveguide 14. |
