Conventional tanks operate on the vacuum principle in order to regulate automatically a desired water level in the plant container. It is conventional for a separately designed tank to be made for each plant container, which is expensive. In addition, the tanks allow the possibility of mistakes to be made when replenishing, or leaks occur at their filling openings, which can result in the planted hydroponic culture dying. Furthermore, the tanks have no water level indicator. The invention solves these problems with a water tank which comprises at least two dimensionally stable part-tanks or tank parts (34) which are interconnected in such a way that they can be moved relatively towards each other. As a result, the overall shape of the water tank can be changed and made to fit a wide variety of plant containers (40). For replenishing, one tank part (34) or part-tank can be lifted out and filled up by means of a filling opening (38) provided near to the bottom of the tank. The water tank according to the invention is equipped with a water level indicator, which is fully integrated into the interior of the tank in an air-tight manner. <IMAGE> |
