PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline storage battery by which electric resistance of an electrode can be reduced and which is excellent in discharging with a large electric current by forming the electrode by filling an active material mainly composed of a nickel hydoxide in a current collecting body of a sandwich structure that metallic foil is arranged in the center of a sponge-like metallic porous body base board which has a three-dimensional structure and prescribed porosity. SOLUTION: Metallic foil 3 is arranged in a sponge-like nickel porous body 1 which has a three-dimensional structure and whose porosity is not less than 90%. When the metallic foil having small electric resistance is arranged in this way, electric resistance of an electrode is reduced, and polarization is reduced, and an electric current is uniformly distributed, and the electrode can be uniformly reacted, and a voltage drop at high efficiency discharge time can be remarkably prevented, and an alkaline battery excellent in an output characteristic can be obtained. When a sintered body of nickel powder or nickel fiber obtained in a manufacturing process is used as the metallic foil 3, it can be inexpensively manufactured. |
