PURPOSE:To obtain an image excellent in light fastness end having the sharp desired hue of a dye itself with high resolving power by uniformly transferring a dispersed dye to the surface of a receiving material without generating flocculation by using ink thermally melted within a specific temp. range and containing a colorant having a specific MW and a specific range of a particle size and showing the same hue as the original hue of the dye at the time of transfer in a state dispersed and held in a solvent and wax having compatibility to the solvent. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer recording medium consisting of a base material and the ink layer formed to the single surface of the base material by applying hot melt ink containing a colorant and wax, the ink is melted within the temp. range of 50-150 deg.C and the colorant is composed of a disperse dye dispersed and held in a solvent and having an MW of 800 or less and a particle size of 10<-3>-5X10<-1>mum and showing the same hue as the original hue of the dye itself at the time of transfer and wax has compatibility to the solvent. The disperse dye is compounded in an amount of 0.1-20 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of vehicle on a solid basis corresponding to a desired hue and density. |
