PURPOSE:To produce a high-efficiency rare earth - iron - boron magnet with certainty by sealing an ingot of an alloy containing rare earth elements, iron, and boron as essential components in a metallic capsule and carrying out hot working under specific working conditions. CONSTITUTION:An ingot of an alloy containing rare earth elements, iron, and boron as essential components is sealed in a metallic capsule. As the above alloy, an alloy having a composition which contains about 8-25atomic% rare earth elements, such as Pr, Nd, and Ce, and about 2-8% boron and in which small amounts of Co, Al, Mo, Si, Cu, etc., are further added is suitably used. In the state sealed in the above capsule, the above alloy is hot-worked. The working conditions at this time are 850-1,000 deg.C and >=30% reduction of area. Further, one-half or less of the above plate thickness reduction is carried out in a rolling direction where the stock to be rolled is turned at an angle of <=90 deg.. By this method, the magnet having high magnetic flux density and coercive force can easily be obtained. |
