PURPOSE:To obtain the title staple in which the crimp ratio after crimping thereof, the residual crimp ratio, the initial modulus are all specific values, usable as a carpet by forming a polypropylene staple into a fiber aggregate and subjecting the aggregate to backing treatment, etc., having excellent lightweight properties and chemical resistance and useful for floor material of car. CONSTITUTION:In a PP staple (preferably having 5-50 d fineness and 50-110mm fiber length) used as a carpet or surface-coating material by forming it into a fiber aggregate by needle punch, etc., applying backing treatment, heat treatment, thermal forming, etc., to the fiber aggregate, the above-mentioned PP staple is mechanically crimped and the crimp ratio after crimp thereof is >=18% and the residual crimp ratio after loading 10mg/d at temperature in thermal forming is <=2% and the initial modulus is >=80kg/mm<2>. |
