A volume display development system and method for projecting one or more light or laser beam onto a moving volume display surface is provided. The system generates a plurality of data points (41) which collectively compose an image. The amount of angular displacement of the light or laser beam in two directions is determined (42) in order to project the plurality of data points on the moving volume display surface. The system determines the timing of the light or laser beam for projecting the data points (43, 44) on the moving volume display surface in response to the rate of movement thereof, and the data points are projected on the moving volume display surface (410) in response to the determined angular displacement and timing. <IMAGE>
