PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF BEARINGS

To produce bearings for internal combustion engines, a bearing metal layer consisting of a base mass with particles, incorporated therein, of a metallic sliding material and oxygen incorporated in a quantity of 0.005 to 1.0 % by mass, is applied by cathodic sputtering to a metallic carrier body. For controlled lowering of the microhardness of the bearing metal layers, an isothermal heat treatment at temperatures from 170 to 230 DEG C is provided.
