PURPOSE:To dehumidify water absorbed in the surface of a transfer belt and to prevent an electric resistance value lowered by providing a means which changes relative position relation between the transfer belt and a heat fixing device when no print operation is performed. CONSTITUTION:When no print operation is performed, the rotation of the transfer belt 1 is stopped, and the transfer belt 1 in the neighborhood of a guide roll 5 confronting with the high temperature part of a heating roll 2 of a heat roll fixing device, etc., is exposed to heat, then, the temperature of the belt is raised. Humidity in the neighborhood of a guide roll 14 when the rotation of the transfer belt 1 is stopped is monitored by a humidity detecting member 11, and when detected humidity exceeds preset humidity, the transfer belt 1 is driven successively for a constant time or intermittently in a direction of arrow head 1(a), which heats the entire circumference of the transfer belt 1 with the heating roll 2 of the fixing device. Thereby, it is possible to prevent the electric resistance value of the transfer belt 1 lowered by dehumidifying the water absorbed in the transfer belt 1. |
