PURPOSE:To prevent toner from being consumed unnecessarily when recording forms run short during image formation by carrying on the image formation by using recording forms matching the image formation according to the decision result of the form size decision means when the recording forms in a selected form storage means run short during the image formation. CONSTITUTION:Forms P of lateral B5 size in a form cassette 42 are selected if the forms P run short after copying operation starts, a CPU checks the size of forms stored in a form cassette 43. The checked forms are of longitudinal B4 size and the whole toner image which is expected to be transferred to the forms P can be transferred. Therefore, the copying operation of the copying machine 1 is not interrupted and the cassette 43 is selected to carry on the copying operation. The CPU, however, sets a stop flag which inhibits a 2nd form from being fed when the cassette 43 is selected. Consequently, even if the selected recording forms run short during the image formation, toner is prevented from being consumed unnecessarily. |
