A wheelchair for the disabled is described, which comprises a sitting surface (1), which can be moved about a horizontal first pivot axis (8) and can be fixed, and arranged further below and horizontally offset, a foot-supporting surface (2) which can be moved about a further horizontal axis (7) and can be fixed. In order to allow the wheelchair to be used not only for the sitting position but also for a kneeling position, the inclinations of the sitting surface (1) and the foot-supporting surface (2) and their distance with respect to one another can be altered.
