PURPOSE:To obtain a hair modifying agent, composed of an antibody fraction with an immunological activity against keratin proteins, having strong affinity for hair, specifically binding thereto and capable of imparting smoothness or flexibility to the hair and improving combining and gloss. CONSTITUTION:A hair modifying agent is obtained by blending about 0.00001-10 wt.% antibody fraction having an immunological activity against keratin type intermediate-diameter filament constituent protein.(hereinafter referred to as keratin protein) of human hair therein. The modifying agent is prepared in the form of a shampoo, rinse, styling foam, hair conditioner, hair pack, hair liquid, hair tonic, permanent waving agent, etc., for use. The antibody fraction is prepared by cleaving disulfide bonds in human hair keratin by reduction or oxidation treatment, solubilizing and extracting the fraction, using the resul tant keratin-containing substance as an antigen and immunizing mammals or birds therewith according to a well-known method.
