<p>An apparatus for producing compost from waste material, the apparatus consisting of a relatively low silo (1) which contains the material bed (2) to be composted, at one end of which silo new material is fed in, and from the other end of which the composted material is removed, and of mixing elements comprising spiral parts which work the compost, the said elements moving in the bed during operation. Each individual mixing element (5a and 5b) comprises a rotating shaft part (8) and blades (9) protruding from it, of which there are several along the length (L) of the shaft part and which extend only over a part of the whole periphery angle (K). These mixing elements are arranged in pairs (10), in which the shaft parts are parallel and the distance (S) between the shaft parts is at most slightly smaller or greater than the combined length of the corresponding blades (9', 9") on the different shaft parts.</p> |
