PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized, lightweight and inexpensive dispaly device which dispalys the frequency of use, used number of sheets, etc., to a user by dispalying the used number of sheets of paper by using electrochromic. CONSTITUTION:A switch counter 10 has an electrode 11, an electrochromic dispaly surface 12, a dispaly counter 13 for the registered number of sheets, a dispaly counter 15 for the used number of sheets, a dispaly counter 17 for a frequency of use, etc. A copying machine 30, when used by equipped with the switch counter 10 in a switch counter equipment hole 35, stores the currrent paper size, frequency of use, used number of sheets, etc., in a microcomputer 34, and also supplies the data to the switch counter 10, on which they are dispalyed.
