A process for the combined decomposition of organic compounds and the removal of Hg, Pb and Cr from dust-like residues of thermal disposal processes, in particular from fly ashes of refuse incineration plants in which residues are heated in an oxidised atmosphere, is proposed, characterised in particular in that the residues are subjected to non-slagging heating at temperatures above 250 DEG C, preferably at 400-700 DEG C, some of the residues treated in this manner being obtained and being recycled to the heating zone, and on the one hand the resulting waste gases being passed over adsorbents and on the other hand the residues treated in this manner being leached, in particular with alkaline media.

|
