PURPOSE:To increase durability of a separator and life of a battery by using as a separator a graft film obtained by graft copolymerizing methacrylic acid or acrylic acid to a synthetic resin film and removing metals by acid treatment. CONSTITUTION:Acrylic acid or methacrylic acid or both are graft copolymerized to a synthetic resin film such as polyethylene. A graft film prepared by this process is treated with an acidic solution to remove metals in the film, then H- type graft film is obtained. The H-type graft film is treated to convert to K salt type to obtain K-type graft film. These two type graft films are used as a separator of a battery. The H-type graft film obtained by acid treatment is used on the cathode side to prevent silver ion penetration, and the K-type graft film having good swelling property in an electrolyte is placed on anode side to increase the life of a button type silver oxide battery. |
