PURPOSE:To eliminate an irregularity in the thickness, etc., of character data after conversion and to make a print of high quality by performing the data conversion such as compression or enlargement according to the reference point of a character. CONSTITUTION:The ruled-line pattern of a character pattern C11 shaped as shown in a figure is converted by a conversion pattern for 5/8-time compression in the width direction of the character. In this case, a conversion pattern 20a corresponding to an offset value based upon the development start position of the character pattern C11 is used to thin out the data. Consequently, the characters is compressed as shown by a character pattern C12. Further, when the ruled line pattern of a character pattern C21 is converted by compression, a conversion pattern 20b is selected and used. Consequently, a character pattern C22 is obtained. Thus, the character patterns C12 and C22 of the ruled line patterns are equal in longitudinal line thickness, so the uniform patterns are obtained. |
